Ride no. 25 – en route to Knit Night

Ride no. 25 was a little commuter ride over to St.Johns-in-the-Vale to attend the weekly knit night. Jack came with me (as he likes to knit too!), and we took the Keswick-Thelkeld railway line most of the way to keep out of the ferocious wind.

Yeah, I’m probably the mop hip and happening 27 year old you’ll ever meet.

My weekly socialising consists of ‘knit night’ – where a small group of people with an average age of about 50 gather for dinner and knitting. We eat a big pot-luck feast, have an embarrassing amount of dessert, and then retire to the knitting quarters. We talk about a wide range of topics: from politics, sustainability and social issues, to farming, crafting, and small town gossip.

We usually leave late, having had our fill of delightful dinner, many cups of tea, and at least a couple of rows of knitting to show for our efforts. It really is lovely. I will need to write properly one of these days about our rag-tag group of knitters, but tonight is not that night. I’m off to bed!
